Strengthening the sustainability of the protected area system of Montenegro

The project has the objective of ‘developing the capacity in protected area institutions to design, plan and manage a more representative system of protected areas’. The project has two components – along with their associated outcomes, outputs and activities - which will contribute towards achieving the project objective. The project will focus activities at two levels of intervention: (i) the national level, through working with public institutions and agencies in order to develop the capacity to consolidate, expand and effectively manage the PAS; and (ii) the local level, through working directly with the key stakeholder groups and local communities in order to establish the first  Regional Park in Montenegro in the Komovi region, and to assess the feasibility of establishing a Marine Protected Area in the region of the Platamuni cliffs along the Adriatic coast.
