SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT FESTIVAL  “Durmitor just for you”
Organized by UNDP, Serbia and Montenegro, LO in Montenegro in cooperation with Montenegrin Ministry of Tourism, “National Parks of Montenegro”, NP “Durmitor” and NGO “Most”

Together with its partners, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) SCG, LO in Montenegro organized the first Sustainable Development Festival «Durmitor – just for you» in Montenegro as part of the Unleashing Entrepreneurship for development of sustainable tourism in NP “Durmitor” programme.

Promoting sustainable tourism, three-days Festival offered competition segments (best: NP attraction, photograph, folklore, national cuisine...), photo and souvenirs exhibitions, local crafts produces exhibitions, cultural programme, and as the most attractive offer of the Festival - rafting services in Tara River Canyon, walking tours and boat cruising on the Black Lake, all organized in the National Park “Durmitor” at promotional, discount prices.  

 Festival was organized though partnership between the NP “Durmitor”, local government and businesses, tourist workers and all the others interested in developing sustainable tourism in the three northern, mountainous Montenegrin municipalities (Zabljak, Savnik, Pluzine). Zabljak, as mountain tourist centre was chosen to be host of the Sustainable Tourism Festival.

Under this project, UNDP has gathered many creative people who participated with their ideas and projects in the first tourist happening in Montenegro, organized in the sustainable spirit. 

In the competition part of the Festival, best works to be awarded in all the categories (the best Durmitor destination: video, photography, attraction presentation, souvenir, national gastronomy specialities) were selected by the jury of well known Montenegrin artists, journalists and representatives of international organizations… 

Guests of the Festival were representatives from the Montenegrin Government, Mayors of Municipalities of Zabljak, Savnik and Pluzine, high representatives of the international donor organizations, all the Montenegrin media…

This Sustainable Development Festival is planned to become tradition in the northern mountain region of Montenegro. It offered new opportunity for all to visit, to get to know better and enjoy the beauties of National Park “Durmitor” - pristine nature parts under the dual UNESCO protection – as World Heritage of Natural Values site and as Earth’s ecological biosphere reserve under the  “Man and the biosphere” UNESCO programme.
