Montenegro implementing projects to comply with UN Conventions for Environmental Protection

On the occasion of celebration of 5th June, the World Environment Day, projects in sectors of climate change, biodiversity and capacity assessment, financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented in Montenegro by the UNDP in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Protection, were presented today.

 The activities carried out under each of the projects are a response to the requirements of the country taken up by the relevant UN environmental conventions.

The projects are managed by Ms. Biljana Đurović (Climate Change), Ms. Tanja Boljević (Biodiversity) and Ms. Ana Pajević (Capacity Self-Assessment), Senior Advisors at the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Protection.

The UNDP, the development arm of the UN, was designated by GEF as one of three implementing agencies. The GEF helps developing countries to fund projects and programmes that protect the global environment by providing grants to support projects related to biodiversity, climate change, international waters, land degradation, the ozone layer, and persistent organic polluters.
